Before a document leaves the church, you read it again and you show it to someone. Sanctumel Docs offers a full-screen presentation mode for that, in the spirit of Word's Read Mode, and a print command that produces exactly the same pages as the PDF.
Both commands rely on the same page engine as the PDF export. What you see on screen, what you print and what you download are therefore identical, page for page.
Opening presentation mode
Click Presentation in the top bar. The pages are composed first, which takes a moment on a long document, then the screen switches to full screen on the first page.
Presentation mode is available on a draft as well as on an issued document. A letter is read before it is sealed at least as often as after.
Note: the controls fade away on their own after a few seconds without activity, so they do not end up on the photo someone takes of the screen. The slightest mouse movement brings them back.
Moving through the document
| Action | Effect |
|---|---|
| Right arrow, Page Down, Space | Next page |
| Left arrow, Page Up | Previous page |
| Down arrow, up arrow | Scroll the page when it is larger than the screen, change page otherwise |
| Home, End | First page, last page |
| Mouse wheel | One page per notch, or scrolling when the page is larger than the screen |
| Click in the left or right half | Previous or next page |
| F | Enter or leave full screen |
| Esc | Leave the presentation |
Note: in full screen, the first press of Esc is taken by the browser to return to a window. A second press closes the presentation.
Zooming
A whole page rarely fits at a readable size on a laptop screen. The legal identification line of a certificate, under the signature, is less than ten pixels tall on paper: it is exactly the one you want to read again before issuing.
| Action | Effect |
|---|---|
| Minus and plus buttons | One zoom step |
| The percentage button | Fit the page, then fit the width |
| Ctrl and wheel (Cmd on Mac), or pinch on a trackpad | Continuous zoom |
| Double-click on the page | Toggle between the whole page and actual size |
| Plus and minus keys | One zoom step |
| Key 0 | Fit the page |
| Key 1 | Actual size |
| Drag the page | Move it around, when it is larger than the screen |
Fit the width is the reading mode: the page fills the screen widthways, the text becomes comfortable, and you scroll. Once at the bottom of the page, one more wheel notch moves to the next one.
100 % matches the sheet as the editor draws it. It is the same size as in the composer, not an arbitrary value.
Tip: the cursor tells you what a click will do. An open hand means the page is larger than the screen and you can grab it to move it; a pointing finger means a click on the left or right changes page.
Two pages and thumbnails
On a wide screen the presentation shows two pages side by side, like an open book. A single A4 page would take up a third of the width and leave the rest empty. The Two pages button switches to a single page, and your choice is then kept.
The Page thumbnails button opens a strip at the bottom of the screen: a clickable preview of every page, to jump straight to the one you want without scrolling through the whole document.
Printing
The Print button composes the pages, then opens the browser's print dialog. The Ctrl + P shortcut (Cmd + P on Mac) does exactly the same thing.
What comes out of the printer is the paginated document: the church letterhead and footer repeated on every sheet, cuts made between lines rather than through them, page numbers from the second sheet onwards, and the orientation chosen in the Details panel.
Tip: check that the Margins option in the print dialog is set to "None" and that background printing is enabled. The pages are composed at the exact size of the sheet, they do not need the browser's margins.
Note: Paged view and presentation mode show these same pages. If you have already opened either of them, printing reuses the pages already composed and starts immediately.
What the recipient sees
A document printed without the church chrome remains identifiable: the legal name, the company number and the reference number appear on a discreet line under the signature, and the verification QR code does not depend on the letterhead. See Verification by QR code for what the public page shows.
